First stage of LVM scholarship competition concluded

65 applications from university and college students and 11 applications from Ogre State Technical College students have been received within the framework of JSC Latvia’s State Forests’ (LVM) scholarship competition.

Most applications have been submitted by the Latvian University of Agriculture and University of Latvia students – 27 and 23, respectively. Daugavpils University students have submitted seven applications. Rezekne Higher Education Institution, Liepaja University, Riga Technical University and Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences students have also applied for LVM scholarships.

 

The largest number of applications has been received in the fields of forest management (21), environmental protection (15), environmental education and communication (15). Several applications have also been received for timber processing, geographic information systems and subsoil resources management.

 

We thank all of the students for their participation. In two weeks’ time, we will contact those who will be nominated for the next stage of the competition and invite them to a brief interview during which they will be requested to present their vision of future studies and plans.

 

Each year, to promote greater knowledge and majoring in forestry, JSC Latvia’s State Forests announces a scholarship competition. LVM scholarships are awarded to university and college students studying various fields, and Ogre State Technical College students can also apply for special scholarships.
