We invite young people to create advertisements on active recreation in forests

JSC “Latvia’s State Forests” has been cooperating with “Euro AWK Ltd.” and “JA-YE Latvija” for several years, inviting young people to come up with ideas about environmental advertisement posters on socially important topics. This year, students from the 10th and 12th grades are tasked with creating an environmental advertisement poster and a slogan promoting active recreation in Latvia’s state forests. The best poster will be put up on Latvia’s urban environment stands next spring.

Be active, creative and do not fear the boldest ideas! Create advertisements that will motivate young people themselves to head out to forests!

This year, “The Other Hollywood” competition offers six advertisement tasks, where students are invited to submit from November 1, 2012 to March 1, 2013. The goal of the competition is to learn to use universally-recognized marketing models and market research methods in analyzing business operations, making creative advertisements for specific companies. The tasks are available at www.jal.lv. The competition’s closing ceremony will be held during the JA-YE Latvija Days of Young Entrepreneurs in Ķīpsala in May.

More than 300 ideas were submitted for “The Other Hollywood” in the previous school year, dedicated to JSC “Latvia’s State Forests” and Partners’ social advertisement task – “Forests for People”. “Forests are the main natural resources that people need on each day. Forests support us every day, providing oxygen, timber and food. There would be no people without forests. Forests can survive without humans. However, it does not prevent us from helping forests and expressing our gratitude for having them. Therefore, humans support forests. We support forests, forests support us!” Artūrs Grugulis from Limbaži Secondary School No. 3 (11th grade) describes his advertisement.

JAL Executive Director, Jānis Krievāns: “Everyone benefits from the competition. For youth, participation in the project provides a wonderful opportunity to get the feel of the role of advertisement makers, develop practical skills in creating advertisements and creative thinking. The competition’s conclusion will be organized together with “The Days of Young Entrepreneurs”, a unique Baltic scale event, where each student will have a chance to see the ideas of young businessmen. For the companies, participation in the project is an opportunity to find out how their clients assess their brands, production or services. The companies also gain many creative ideas that can be used to make their brands, products or services more recognizable!”
