HONOURING THE FRIENDS OF THE FOREST

Forest, strength and friendship are the key-words that characterise the people who have been awarded the Diploma of the Friend of the Forest in the framework of the Annual Prize of the Forest Sector – “The Golden Cone’”; it is awarded to people, who, not being directly linked to the forest sector, love and appreciate forest. This year the official ceremony of the Friend of the Forest was held on January 9, at 1 p.m. on the boat “Noass”, the prize was awarded to artist Margarita Stāraste, architect Pēteris Blūms and chef Mārtiņš Sirmais, thus proving that caring for nature and the appreciating of the miracle of forest can manifest itself in any field, including literature, architecture and even cuisine.
