GRANTS TO LATVIA A CLEAN AND NEW FOREST

Almost 200 young people together with an Olympian Martinsh Rubenis (Mārtiņš Rubenis) on May 4th in the frames of ”1=2” action cleaned and planted 2 ha of state forest.

During the cooperation by JSC ”Latvijas valsts meži” (“Latvian State Forests”) and ”Projekts Pēdas” (“Project Footprints”) action in the forest near Plakanciems feast participants have collected more than 40 m3 of waste on the 2 ha area, and also have planted 2 ha of a new forest. Instead of one sawn down tree there have been planted two new trees, as it is done in all state forests.

This was the second jointly organised  by JSC „Latvijas valsts meži” (“Latvian State Forests”) and ”Projekts Pēdas” (“Project Footprints”) during state holidays ”1=2” action aimed at  the society educating in planting and cleaning of forests. Last year in the ”1=2” action’s bee on May 4th participated more than 130 young people and the Olympian Janis Lusis (Jānis Lūsis).
