CARTOON SHOW MAMMADABA MULTI RĪTS GETS A SURPRISINGLY HIGH RESPONSE

On Saturday, 25 October, the second cartoon show Mammadaba Multi Rīts was held at cinema Rīga. The show featured several animated cartoons directed by Nils Skapāns, as well as some characters created by Animācijas Brigāde film studio. Several minutes before the start of the show, the ticket office area was still filled with both big and small cinema-goers queuing up to the entrance door. Additional seats had to be provided in the hall to accommodate all viewers.

Just outside the cinema, each viewer was greeted by the Wonder Bird from the Kalsnava Arboretum featuring a collection of various trees from all over the world, including Canada, Australia and Japan, as the greeter explained. Before the show started, the Wonder Bird encouraged the audience to imitate birds’ sounds until the hall of cinema Rīga was filled with a polyphonic birds’ choir. The Wonder Bird became witness to the commitment unanimously expressed by all viewers present: “Dear Mother Nature, we promise to step out of smoke and dust, and turn to you, Mother Nature, to enjoy green, pure and beautiful Latvian nature!”

One hour after the cartoon show, ALFA shopping centre offered everyone an opportunity to watch a movie by Vides Filmu Studija production company about the European roller, which has become a rare species in Latvia, and take part in the quiz on birds arranged by Latvian Ornithological Society. The youngest visitors could demonstrate their talent by drawing birds. Three young artists chosen by lucky draw received lovely presents from Mammadaba.

Mammadaba Multi Rīti is a run of children’s films about nature shown once a month and organised by cinema Rīga, JSC Latvijas valsts meži and National Film Centre of Latvia. Over this year, the next Mammadaba Multi Rīti shows are to be held on 29 November and 27 December.
