The Parks Managed by LVM are Getting Ready for Spring

JSC "Latvia's State Forests" (LVM) invites all interested to go out in the nature and take care of cleaning up recreation areas and parks before the start of the active tourist season. Territory clean-up works have been performed in Skrīveri Arboretum Park and Koknese Park.

Park arrangement works started already last year. To provide safety of visitors, rebuilding of the pathway to the entrance, as well as removal of dead and broken trees was carried out in Skrīveri Arboretum Park. The task was performed very carefully, since the removal of each dead tree was coordinated by specialists of LVM Vidusdaugava Region with the Nature Protection Board.

At the end of February, clean-up works were also completed in Koknese Park, removing broken and dead trees. Park visitors are reminded to be responsible and take care of order; in places where infrastructure improvement and park clean-up works are organised, please be careful and do not approach the sites were works are being performed!

Within the framework of LVM Open Forest Days, joint clean-up works are planned in Koknese Park, while in co-operation with Salaspils Botanical Garden a number of trees will be planed in Skrīveri Arboretum Park. Skrīveri Arboretum Park and its foreign tree plantations occupy an area of 392 hectares; there are about 300 exotic tree and shrub species that have survived out of the 679 species that grew here before the First World War. Visiting the park is an opportunity to get acquainted with the traditional forest landscape of other countries without leaving the territory of Latvia.
