Art Students' Exhibition "Forest for Latvia. The Next 100" Is Open to All Interested

Binding creativity and the growing role of forest in the Latvian economy, an exhibition of paintings was opened on 1 November presenting the best works submitted by students of the Art Academy of Latvia for the scholarship competition "Latvia's State Forests Scholarship in Art". The leitmotif for the scholarship is "Forest for Latvia. The Next 100" and everyone interested can get acquainted with the works at the LVM Customer Centre (1 Vaiņodes Street, Riga) until 29 November when this year's winners will be announced.

The competition jury, which consists of three representatives of LVM, as well as the Rector of the Academy Prof. Kristaps Zariņš and Asoc. Prof. Andris Vītoliņš; currently there are 10 finalists whose works take part in the exhibition:

  • "Gabaliņš no meža - fauna" (A Part of Forest - Fauna) by Elīna Apeltiņa;
  • "Septiņi pa divsimts" (Seven by Two Hundred) by Santa Vasiļeva;
  • "Klusumā", "Kas gaidām rītdien...?" (Silence. What will Tomorrow Bring?) by Tatjana Višņakova
  • "Baltais un melnais", "Vakara gaisma" (White and Black. In the Evening Light) by Anete Kalniņa
  • "Zaļā nākotne" (The Green Future) by Lauma Kokoreviča
  • "Mežonīgs miers" (Wild Spirit) by Kristīne Rublovska
  • "Māra" by Marika Džule
  • "Deep Neverending" by Dārta Lote Bērziņa
  • "Virziens" (Direction) by Ilze Aulmane
  • "Tā nav ilūzija" (It is not an Illusion) by Anete Aizbalte
  • The final decision on the granting the scholarship of EUR 1500 will be announced on 29 November, at the closing ceremony of the exhibition that will be held to thank all the participants for their time and energy invested in creating the beautiful works.

    The scholarship competition this year already for the second time is organised by JSC "Latvia's State Forests" in cooperation with the Art Academy of Latvia. The scholarship aims to promote student awareness of the forest as the largest renewable resource in Latvia, which is constantly growing. The decision on granting the scholarship will be made by a jury, assessing the contestants' artistic professionalism and work compliance with the creative task of the competition.
