Winner of angling championship announced

Kanieris Lake was the scene for the final round of the Mammadaba Angling Championship that since May has been held at five JSC "Latvian State Forests" water reservoirs: Tervete water reservoir, Kanieris Lake, Zebrus Lake, Lielauce Lake, and Gulbji Lake. Last year's winner, the "Emilija-Talsi" Team, managed to continue their winning streak and took first place this year too. Competing against ten other participants, and after completing six rounds, the team presented the largest catch.

During the final round of the competition that took place at Kanieris, pikes decided to ignore the bait – the largest pike weighed only one and a half kilograms. The leading teams soon enough adapted to the situation and began preying on perch, thus gaining the precious grams. The most successful competitors of the perch battle were Janis Gaborecs and Maris Efners from "X-fisher", who caught more than seven kilograms of fish, thus winning the honorable first place in the Kanieris round. Romalds and Martins from "Komanda", whose catch weighed about a kilogram, took second place. But in third place – Rinalds Huns and Maris Kepulis from "Lanos-Saldus". After this series of events, "X-fisher" ended up in second place, but "Komanda" – in third place.

The winner of this competition prevailed with almost thirty kilograms of fish, second place – with just a few kilograms less, but third – with about another five kilograms less - still a much better result than last year. Thus – the number of fish at reservoirs, managed by JSC "Latvian State Forests", has either increased or the fisherman's skills have improved.

The championship has concluded. Enjoying hot tea and meat pies, the participants agreed – this championship must  continue.
