LVM Calls on Schools to Explore Forest at LVM Forest Game and LVM Forest Days Sticker Competition

This autumn, school rooms are full of challenges, therefore JSC “Latvia's State Forests” (LVM) calls on students to study in the fresh air – in the forest, and participate in the outdoor educational game idea competition LVM Forest Game and sticker design competition LVM Forest Days.

Students of grades 7 – 9 are encouraged to create educational game ideas about the forest for the LVM Forest Game; the task should be completed by 18 December. The main prize – a paid bus for a study tour chosen by the school in the value of 500 euros, including one of the Mother Nature tourist attractions! The prize can be used until December 2021. Anyone from 5 to 25 years of age is welcome to participate in the LVM Forest Days sticker design competition! Applicants should submit their sticker on this year's theme “Let's Head to the Forest!” by 18 December.

The theme of both competitions is related to LVM's new digital learning guide “Let's Head to the Forest!” (Laižam mežā) created this autumn, where you can explore safe and green recreation opportunities in nature together with Pigman, the main fighter for clean state forests. In it, everyone can test their knowledge of what kind of nature walker they are: beginner, intermediate or advanced.

Moreover, teachers and students can use the new search engine of study materials, containing all the educational materials published by LVM – both interactive and printable, which are available to schools free of charge! The new search engine can be found here.

Every year, in cooperation with the National Centre for Education, LVM offers schools an opportunity to learn from nature. From pre-school children to university students and teachers, everyone has an opportunity to walk along Latvia’s state forest trails and enhance their school-based knowledge with hands-on nature assignments!
