As school holidays are approaching, it is worth remembering that Latvia is one of the few countries where it is allowed to move freely around forests, pick berries and mushrooms, and even light a camp-fire and spend the night. When going to the forest, however, you have to follow several rules and recommendations, which JSC “Latvia’s State Forests” (LVM) has compiled in one place – in the interactive guide “Let's Go to the Forest!” (Laižam mežā!).

You can have the interactive guide on your computer, phone and tablet, it is available HERE.

In the digital guide, everyone has the opportunity to go on a virtual 360-degree photo tour in forests of different ages, performing three steps and meeting different forest dwellers on your way, at the same time freeing the forest from 13 unsuitable things. A special guide – Pigman, the main LVM fighter for clean forests, will help you not to get lost and will remind all virtual travellers “Do not litter the forest! You will turn into a pig!”

This digital material has been created within the project “Do not Litter the Forest!” with the financial support of the Latvian Environmental Protection Fund. Once you have completed the digital guide, you can also check your knowledge about safe and green recreation in forest by taking a test to find out, which nature walker you are – beginner, intermediate or advanced… Look for advice in the guide “Let's go to the Forest!”.
