LVM Opens a New Mining Site in Rucava Municipality

At the beginning of March, JSC “Latvia's State Forests” (LVM) opened a new mining site – Liepieni-LVM – in Rucava Municipality, Dunika Rural Territory, and mineral materials are already available there.

The total area of the mining area is 4.8 ha, and it offers the following materials:

  • 250 450 thsd m3 of sand – gravel;
  • 88 500 thsd m3 of sand.
  • Currently, an area of 2.37 ha has been prepared for mining.

    At the “Liepieni - LVM” site, the production of mineral material mixtures complies with the “4” system of regulated products in accordance with the following standards:

  • EN 13242:2002 +A1:2007 “Aggregates for unbound and hydraulically bound materials for use in civil engineering work and road construction”;
  • EN 13043:2002, EN 13043/AC:2004 “Aggregates for bituminous mixtures and surface treatments for roads, airfields and other trafficked areas”;
  • EN 12620:2002+A1:2008 “Aggregates for concrete”.

    LVM manages more than 100 mineral extraction sites in the whole territory of Latvia. Mining sites are carefully selected so as not to endanger the environment and at the same time meet the needs of the company and the economy for sand, sand – gravel and other minerals.
