European forest industry experts, representatives of local ministries, as well as industry companies from Latvia, Sweden, Finland and other countries will meet at the international conference “Climate, Future, Forests” to discuss current issues in the forest sector. The conference will take place at the University of Latvia House of Nature, on 22 January 10.00.

In Latvia, as in the Scandinavian countries, the forest sector is one of the main cornerstones of the economy, which allows ensuring the economic development of the country and the comfort of society in an environmentally friendly and sustainable manner.

Given the positive impact of wood as a material on the environment and human health, wood is increasingly used in the construction and transport sectors worldwide. Moreover, wood is gradually replacing petroleum products in the energy, textile, food and automotive sectors.

The conference is organized by the association “Zaļās mājas”, which aims to promote an environmentally, economically and socially sustainable living environment by increasing the use of environmentally friendly and renewable resources in public and private living space, thereby reducing global pollution and the threat of climate change.
