The Winners of LVM Bio-economy School Scholarship Competition have been Amnnounced

Already for the second year, in the framework of the scholarship competition "LVM Bio-economy School" arranged by JSC "Latvia's State Forests" (LVM), school students are encouraged to think creatively, to make video messages, to head to the forest and to think about the importance of wood in today's world.

Amanda Kočāne representing Rugāji Secondary School received the highest score in the jury's and public vote and was awarded a scholarship of 700 euros. In her video, the student shows the wide range of options for using wood, as well as emphasizes the fact that the forest area in Latvia continues to grow.

Daniels Daņilovs from Valmiera State Gymnasium received the second prize and 500 euro scholarship. In his video, Daniels points out that wood is our wealth and a guarantee for the stability of the country, which constantly needs to be taken care of and renewed.

Karīna Ludbarža representing Aizpute Secondary School received the third place and a scholarship of 300 euros. In her work, the student emphasized both the visual appeal of wood, as well as its durability and practicality.

JSC "Latvijas Finieris" Choice Award – a scholarship of 200 euros was awarded to Anete Fišere from Ventspils Secondary School No. 4, while the society "Zaļās mājas" presented its scholarship of 200 euros to Liza Loce from Riga State Gymnasium No. 3.

Certificates of Recognition were presented to all other finalists of the scholarship competition: Anete Dzene (Valmiera State Gymnasium), Sabīne Ozola (Ventspils Secondary School No. 4), Jānis Kristers Ločs (Ogre Technical School), Gunta Lankovska (Liepāja State Gymnasium), and Dagnija Grabuža (Jelgava State Gymnasium).

To raise public awareness of the growing role of forest resources in addressing environmental problems, LVM in cooperation with the association "Zaļās mājas", JSC "Latvijas Finieris and the National Centre for Education invites secondary school students to take part in the scholarship contest "LVM Bio-economy School". In three rounds, students learn, study in nature and address issues concerning innovative bio-economy.
