“Latvia’s State Forests”  “Seeds and Plants” offers the following quality seeds for forest nurseries:

• Scottish pine – Pinus sylvestrys L.
  Only selected material from seeds plantations, for developing them only the best plustrees and plusstands are used; 
• Norwegian spruce – Picea abies L.
  High quality seeds from forest seeds plantations
  Seeds from the best stand from the eastern part of Latvia;
• Birch – Betula pendula L.
  Seeds from the best stands and felling areas, trees of seeds are specially selected.

The work in the forest seeds plantations and experienced professional specialists guide collection of seeds in forest stands. Collection and processing of seeds is done with modern equipment (produced in Sweden by BCC). The seeds are stored in special cameras with regulated temperature.
 
At present the work is ongoing for arranging new seed plantations for many important forest trees species – pine, spruce, ash, maple, larch.

For providing extra high quality seeds we have started arrangements for plantations in plastic covered greenhouses.
