The Embassy of Latvia's State Forests Celebrates Its First Anniversary

A year has passed sine the Embassy of Latvia's State Forests first opened its doors to visitors. It is a place where those living in cities have an opportunity to come in contact with forest, while staying in urban environment. Not only it represents LVM, but also speaks of the company's values and maintains a conversation between man and forest.

The Embassy welcomed its first visitors already on 30 May 2017, and the first purchase was flowers grown and nurtured at LVM Strenči Nursery. However, the official opening took place on 16 June, when embraced by the beauty of peonies we cut the festive ribbon made of flowers. It is noteworthy to mention that the first purchase made in the anniversary morning was the same as the first purchase made last year!

Shortly thereafter, Summer Solstice was celebrated at the Embassy's premises, and visitors had an opportunity to purchase bouquets of meadow flowers and various decorative design elements to complement the interior of their dwelling. In September, the Embassy hosted the fun and colourful Barberry Day, where visitors could enjoy a wide range of barberries and their "colour burst".

In cooperation with Dobele Institute of Horticulture, the Embassy of Latvia's State Forests organises the annual "Day in an Orchard" offering visitors an opportunity to purchase apples of different varieties, as well as the healthy and delicious candied fruit and berries.

Among the cooperation partners of the Embassy there are not only Latvian companies but also artists, craftsmen and nature experts: together with Solvita Kūna representing SIA Cade we had a wonderful experience in the days of forest and meadow essential oils, under the guidance of potter Krists Ozoliņš visitors could try their hand in the Latvian Clay Workshop, while the works of artist Agnese Bule can still be enjoyed and purchased at the Embassy's premises.

Every day, ornamental plants from the wide range of choices offered by LVM nurseries may be purchased at the Embassy. They are grown here in Latvia and therefore meet the specific requirements of our climatic conditions and soil. The Embassy also offers local products made of clay, linen and wood by companies such as Raunas māls and Vaidavas keramika.

If you wish to feel a little closer to nature, but the large number of recreation facilities seems too confusing, the Embassy offers informative materials and advice on recreational areas and lakes managed by LVM.
