Forest Scholarship is Open for Applications

JSC "Latvia's State Forests" (LVM) organises LVM annual scholarship competition for university students with the aim of educating and promoting professional development of the young specialists in fields related to forest management.

To raise awareness of the forest management cycle, to give an opportunity not only to study and gain insight into the future profession, but also to create an open environment for creative ideas and their implementation, this year JSC "Latvia's State Forests" announces a scholarship competition in the following areas of interest to LVM: 

  • Forest ecology;
  • Forest management:
  • Forest management planning;
  • Logging management, optimization of work;
  • Reforestation, tending and protection of the forest;
  • Use of forest biomass in the production of innovative products;
  • Use of subterranean resources in the production of innovative products.
  • LVM scholarships are open to students of different universities who are studying or who are interested in any of the LVM scholarship areas. LVM scholarship programme is an opportunity to enhance students' motivation for developing their skills and abilities. The LVM scholarship offers not only financial support, but also an opportunity to explore the forest sector as a whole, gain insight into the future profession, cooperate with professionals, create and implement new ideas.

    This year, students have an opportunity to introduce themselves by writing a short essay on the topic "I and Forestry in the Future" or "I and Innovative Product Development". At the end of the scholarship programme, scholarship recipients will prepare a video, a presentation or a prototype of an innovative product, reflecting their message, their understanding, and the knowledge acquired in the course of the scholarship programme. The best work will be awarded the LVM Scholarship Award and a one-off grant of 300 euros.
